Book Signing & Reception with Susan Silver, author & sitcom writer for the Mary Tyler Moore Show
Susan Silver, author and former TV writer for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," “Maude,” "The Bob Newhart Show" and "The Partridge Family," among other series; will be hosting a talk followed by a book signing, reception and Q&A at Dogwood Books & Gifts. She is hilarious and vivacious and will be disproving the theory that women can’t write comedy. She will reminisce about her work in creating the character, Rhoda Morgenstern. For women of a certain age, these were iconic TV characters who were pioneers and became role models for professional careers.
Ms. Silver was a trailblazing television sitcom writer at a time when women weren’t invited into the male-dominated industry. Teamed with Iris Rainer Dart, who later wrote Beaches, she helped break the glass ceiling with “Love American Style.”
